McYukon's Tumblings

Mac Addict, Student, Photography Buff, Hobby Designer.
Here I post interesting things when I have the time.

Tumblr

The constant downtime that Tumblr experiences is going on my nerves. For now I will move over to my WordPress Blog.
May be better too, I had some content here and some there. Putting all the content on one blog is better for me and for reader. Not that I have a lot :P

The guy sounds Canadian, Canadians are awesome.

Drinking coffee in the morning to get going is like starting a Bulldozer at -40º C by pouring ether into it’s air intake.

There is nothing more annoying that trying to concentrate in a room full of, cookie munching, chip crunching, and coffee slurping people.
Seriously, have you ever tried to concentrate when someone else is eating next to you? It’s nerve wrecking.

US Department of Airport Terrorists - Invading your privacy Today!
Make no laws whatever concerning speech, and speech will be free; so soon as you make a declaration on paper that speech shall be free, you will have a hundred lawyers proving that “freedom does not mean abuse, nor liberty license”; and they will define and define freedom out of existence. Let the guarantee of free speech be in every man’s determination to use it, and we shall have no need of paper declarations. On the other hand, so long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men.

Imagine someone from 1917 seeing this…

The new Skype 5 Mac

I don’t know who is designing the UI for Skype but in my opinion someone should loose there job.
The UI is so “puffed” up it is ridiculous, before Skype used about 20% of my screen now it uses almost 50%. One of the new additions is a iTunes artwork style browser for your contacts avatars, that is totally useless unless you are 50% blind in both eyes and can’t see anything under 2 inches.
On the old Skype the contacts list was nice and compact, the new one has the users avatar in the front making the list about 3 times as long as before.
Putting everything in one window is properly a good idea, but please remove some of the excessive white space and the overly huge avatars and icons.

Reading Apples design standards and looking at applications like Linkinus might also be a good idea.

It that time of year again where my inner clock gets hopelessly messed up because some “scientists” claim it gives us more daylight.

Nice. Try.

Apple Discontinues Xserve, Mac Pro Server Goes Live

Heh, just today I was wondering if a Mac Pro could be a xserve replacement server (and I didn’t even know this news then).

This sounds familiar…

As the Presidential election of 1992 approached President Bush’s popularity declined. To make matters worse, the liberal media in america created an imaginary “climate of economic crisis” that the other Presidential candidates ( Democrat William (Bill) Clinton and independent candidate Ross Perot ) used to their advantage by warning the American people that only a major change in leadership could save the nation from economic disaster. With the conservative vote split between President Bush and Ross Perot (who had campaigned as a conservative), Bill Clinton (19946) won the election of 1992 with a minority of the popular vote.

During the course of his administration, President Clinton, his cabinet officials, and his advisors (including First Lady Hillary Clinton and Vice President Al Gore) promoted massive government spending on a great variety of both old and new social programs. Taxes rose higher than they had ever been in American history, and the accumulated national debt mounted to an unbelievable $5.3 trillion! (If you spent $100 per second, you would reach $5 trillion after approximately  1,500 years!)

Conclusion
There are a number of ways to protect your application from piracy. However, when it comes down to it, piracy cannot be stopped. Whether you like it or not, if someone wants to steal your application, they will. On this note, pirated copies should not be considered lost sales. Most pirates had no intention of purchasing your application in the first place. Donʼt hurt your real customers. If your application is good enough, people will buy it. The best way to prevent piracy?
Make great apps.
